Writing for your Audience

Abstract

This assignment is about keeping your audience in mind in writing since they are the people I must portray information and ideas to.

The writer should always keep the audience in mind as it helps create an effective piece of writing that is understandable to the demographic that the piece is meant for. Being able to understand your audience is something that can help with the writing process since the writer will have a good understanding of what should and should not be included in a piece of writing as well as the order in which information should be given in. Knowing who you’re writing for also assists with the way in which the piece is written since it has to be worded in ways in which the audience can understand. For example, if children read a piece of writing by a professor, they would have trouble understanding due to the fact that the piece probably contains vocabulary and concepts that haven’t been taught to them yet. However, if the professor knew who the audience was, they would change how their piece was written in order to allow the children to understand what is being written. If the writer was unable to get his words out to the audience, it would be pointless writing the piece. Writing must also be appealing to the demographics that are being targeted so that the audience stays interested in the piece. Being able to decide what elements to use in your writing based on the audience will help enhance your writing since the information or idea can be portrayed clearly.
